Popcorn In A Pot. When I Saw What She Did, I'll Never Use The Microwave Again!
“The smell of freshly popped popcorn is one of my favorite things. But once you smell what stove-top popped corn smells like, you'll never want to microwave your popcorn again. And the taste?? WOW! A MILLION times better than the microwaved stuff. This will quickly become your new favorite treat. And the fact that it only takes a minute to do is really enticing to me. Why would you ever settle for the bagged microwave stuff, when this is so easy?”

This Man Shows You How To Make A Perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwich:
"Cooked bread and cheese is an ancient food, according to food historians, popular across the world in many cultures; evidence indicates that in the U.S., the modern version of the grilled cheese sandwich originated in the 1920s when inexpensive sliced bread and American cheese became easily available. The so-called cheese dream became popular in the United States of America during the Great Depression."

How to Cook Frozen Hamburgers in the Microwave
If you're craving hamburgers and all you've got are some frozen patties and a microwave, don't resign yourself to a trip to a fast-food restaurant. You can whip up a tasty, healthier meal in just a few minutes in your microwave. While cooking hamburgers in the microwave won't impart the same taste as frying them or cooking them on the grill, it's still a viable option if you don't have another way to cook them or simply need to put a meal on the table quickly. - 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves (about 1 pound)

- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 cups uncooked instant white rice
- 2 cups fresh or frozen broccoli flowerets

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup:
Recipe by Terryn
"Delicious and EASY zesty soup recipe that uses only 6 canned ingredients! Serve over tortilla chips, and top with shredded Cheddar cheese. Throw away the cans and no one will know that it is not from scratch!"
from allrecipes.com
This recipe fits all my conditions: less than 8 ingredients, simple, adaptable. The reviews on “allrecipes” had several suggestions for spicing it up.
I replaced the beans with Minute Multi-Grain Medley (rice,1 packet), substituted frozen diced chicken (another suggestion is rotisserie chicken from Kroger). I also experimented with Cream of Chicken Soup in place of chicken broth and also kept the broth and added a can of Cream of Chicken.
Play with it, its good for a pot of soup to dip in through the week at lunch. GlennDL

Five Condiments That Don’t Need To Be Refrigerated:
The following suggested timeframes for keeping condiments refers to condiments that are commercially made since those tend to contain enough preservatives.
Remember that while the following opened condiments don't have to be kept in the refrigerator, they should be kept at a cool room temperature and out of direct sunlight.
And always use common sense — if a condiment starts to smell or taste funny, ditch it.

10 Myths About Body Fat
What's one of the things about body fat that most people believe is true? How about this one: Muscle burns more calories than fat. While yes, our skeletal muscle does burn more calories every day than our body fat does, it's not as notable as you may think. It's really a surprisingly negligible difference when you're talking about how many calories are consumed for energy while you're just sitting around. The calories the body needs just to take care of its survival is called our resting energy expenditure, and when you're not exercising or expending your energy, your fat tissue burns two calories for every pound of your total body weight — but your skeletal muscle burns just six calories per pound [source: McClave].

7 Misleading Health Claims that You Should Never Believe
Here are the seven misleading health claims that top my list.
1. Natural. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doesn’t have a definition for the word “natural,” so companies use it with abandon.
2. Real. Really? Food companies use this term to highlight a “premium” ingredient. As Mr. Bradley points out: “One ingredient does not make a box or bag REAL food.”
3. Organic. This one is interesting because the FDA does regulate the use of the word “organic.” But did you know you can buy organic jelly beans? And organic pizza rolls? Those aren’t healthy choices. Organic doesn’t mean healthy.
4. Whole Grain. All it takes is a minute trace of a whole grain in a product for food companies to be allowed to label it “whole grain.” And the benefits of whole grains are frequently offset by added sugars, artificial colors, and other additives.

How long should your naps be? Seriously.
- The Power Nap:
10-20 minutes, sleep is limited to a lighter sleep that enable you to ‘snap back’ waking up. - Sleep Inertia:
30 minutes, leaves you with a nap-hangover for about 30 minutes before you feel any benefits. - Slow Wave Sleep:
60 minutes. Best for remembering facts, faces, and names. A deep sleep with nap-hangover. - Full Cycle Sleep:
Lighter & deeper sleep both, REM sleep, dreaming stage. Lead to improved ‘procedural memory’.
Tends to lessen nap-hangover.

Weight Loss Magic Soup
This recipe has been all over the internet via Facebook.
To meet my requirement for fewer ingredients and KISS (Keep It Simpler Stupid) I cutout the highlighted ingredients, substituted at least two packages of frozen vegetables and added a cup of frozen diced chicken and another cup of diced meat such as cutup turkey sausage.
I also eliminated the first step of the instructions and throw every thing into a crock pot for 2-3 hours. For this I increase the broth and V-8 juice (on a 1 to 1 basis) until the crockpot is full. Makes me a supply for a week.

Decoding your produce:
What’s with the barcode on your produce? Yes there is a code and a number that identifies the product when you check out. BUT, there is more to the code than just pricing:
The stickers or labels attached to fruit and some vegetables have more of a function than helping scan the price at the checkout stand. The PLU code, or price lookup number printed on the sticker, also tells you how the fruit was grown. By reading the PLU code, you can tell if the fruit was genetically modified, organically grown or produced with chemical fertilizers, fungicides, or herbicides.

Top 10 Sleep Mistakes and Their Solutions
- a Care2 favorite by Dr. Frank Lipman
Although we may not like to admit it, many of the sleep problems we experience are the result of bad habits and behaviors. We stay up late or sleep in late. We eat foods that disagree with us or enjoy a drink late at night, oblivious to its disruptive impact on our sleep rhythms. Over time, we teach our body not to sleep. For relief we often turn to sleeping pills, which mask rather than solve the problem, and can lead to addiction. Ultimately for real success, with insomnia as with any chronic problem, one must look for the underlying imbalances and root causes and address those.
Here are the common sleep “mistakes” I see in my practice and their solutions.

The Vitamin C turns fat into fuel, the tangerine increases your sensitivity to insulin, and the cucumber makes you feel full. Try it for 10 days and see what you think!
