Old eggs float in fresh cold water because of a large air cell that forms as the egg cools after being laid. As the egg ages, air enters the egg and the air cell becomes larger and this acts as a buoyancy aid. Generally, fresh eggs will lie on the bottom of the bowl of water.

How does a baby bird breathe inside the egg?
The two membranes pull apart a little and create a small pocket or sack of air. As the developing bird grows, it breathes in oxygen from the air sack and exhales carbon dioxide. Several thousand microscopic pores all over the surface of the egg allow the CO2 to escape and fresh air to get in.
The oldest and easiest way to tell if an egg is fertilized is called candling the egg. It is literally holding the egg up to a lit candle {not to warm it, but in order to see inside of the egg}.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves (about 1 pound)
- 1 10 3/4 ounce can Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup
(Regular or 98% Fat Free)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 cups uncooked instant white rice
- 2 cups fresh or frozen broccoli flowerets
Directions
- Heat the oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 10 minutes or until well browned on both sides. Remove the chicken from the skillet.
- Stir the soup, water, paprika and black pepper in the skillet and heat to a boil. Stir in the rice and broccoli. Reduce the heat to low. Return the chicken to the skillet. Sprinkle the chicken with additional paprika and black pepper. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the chicken is cooked though.*For a creamier dish, decrease the rice to 1 1/2 cups.
Tip
- This recipe is also delicious using Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup instead of the Cream of Chicken.
- You can also substitute frozen diced chicken , chicken leftovers, or rotisserie chicken. Just pre-heat and skip step 1 above.
Makes eight 1 cup servings.

The original recipe called for 3/4 cup mayo, 1/2 cup artichoke hearts [which are out of my league…a man must know his limitations] and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. I substituted Ranch dip, red bell peppers and onions for those. Unbelievably the ranch dip nutrition label makes the mayo nutrition label look deadly…glenndl
The original recipe called for cooking the breast whole but it tasted so good I cut and beat the chicken and loved it. I sometimes buy it already sliced into ‘tenders’. It takes a little more of the bread crumb mix and mustard so I mix up a large batch of the bread crumb mix in a container and keep it in the refrigerator for multiple cooking's. Quick and easy nuggets.
